The Lakeview Gators kicked off their season last Tuesday against Homer. This long road trip was the start to a long season for this successful ball club. Following a quarterfinal playoff exit last year, the Gators looked to make another deep run in the playoffs again this year, starting with the Homer Pelicans.
The Gators lost the opening tipoff but started the game off well defensively. This led to a 7-3 lead just under four minutes into the first quarter, headlined by a #1 G Javonte Howard corner three. The Pelicans would quickly take control though, going on a 10-2 run to end the first, making it 13-9.
#2 G Nate Braden didn’t take long to bring the Gators back though, draining back to back midrange jumpers and tying the game at 13 with 6:30 left to go in the second.
