There was good news in the courthouse Tuesday for Parish Government. District Judge Bruce Bolin granted a motion filed by Parish Government to dismiss a lawsuit filed by Alan McMurtry in August.
The suit by McMurtry against Parish Government and Parish President Rick Nowlin alleged that Nowlin used two emergency declarations to change line items in the highway budget to purchase road materials as a way to get a round Parish Council approval.
The suit has been ongoing since August when Bolin refused McMurtry’s request for a temporary restraining order to stop the Parish from buying materials to be used for road maintenance. However, he allowed the suit to continue.
There will be more information forthcoming from the Natchitoches Parish District Attorney’s office that represented Parish Government.
