Graveside service for Mr. R. D. “Joe” Achord was at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4 at Fern Park Cemetery in Natchitoches.

R.D. Achord passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 88. R.D. “Joe” was born in Castor Oct. 16, 1931, to Ralph and Lena Achord.

He lived in Natchitoches for a number of years where several of his family members reside today. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. R.D. retired after many years of service as a timekeeper at the port in Houston, Texas, where he lived for over 40 years. He loved to spend his vacations at the beach on Galveston Island with friends and family. He will be dearly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Maudie Achord Guin, Johnnie Achord
Russell, Ally Achord Thomas, Lilian Achord, and Estella Achord Kile; brothers, R. L. Achord and Wallace Achord; and infant son, Clarence Achord.

He is survived by his sister, Jimmie Elaine Achord Wynn; son, Randy Achord and wife Jill; grandchildren, Sarah Achord and Adam Achord; great-grandchildren, Janiya, Rylan, and Aiyla; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
