Buccaneers fall to Chiefs

Natchitoches varsity boys’ basketball was yet again victorious, this time against the Haughton Buccaneers. They completely shut down the opposing offense winning 65-35 Friday night in Natchitoches. Natchitoches Central advanced to 17-2 (3-0, 5A District 1). The Chiefs continue their win streak and complete domination of teams.

HOW IT HAPPENED

An incredible 44-6 run in the first half was fueled by impressive defense. At halftime, the Chiefs commanded a 46-13 lead. Throughout the game the Chiefs kept their foot on the gas pedal, not letting up until the very end. Central dominated in every category finishing the game with 45 rebounds (27 defensive and 18 offensive), 14 steals and 3 blocks. They shot 42 percent from the field and 67 percent from the free throw line while holding the Buccaneers to 29 percent from the field and 53 percent from the free throw line.

PLAYERS OF THE GAME

The Chiefs had three players in double figures, but other players contributed in more ways than just scoring. Devonta Snow scored 22 points and shot 45 percent from the field. Darius Young and Nathan Curtis each contributed 10 points. Sean Lacour had two 3-pointers during their run and finished the night with 8 points. Gerald Williams had 7 points, 1 rebound and 2 steals. Jaiden Haire had 4 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks. Tim Curtis finished with 2 points, 6 rebounds and 1 steal.
