Patty Duggan, 61, died Dec. 9, 2019, at Providence St. Vincent Hospital in Portland, Ore., after a yearlong battle with non-small cell lung cancer.
Patty’s display of her Catholic faith through her life inspired many. She shared her gifts as a liturgical music minister helping others to experience God in new ways in the many parishes where she served during her life.
Patricia Jean was born Dec. 7, 1958, in Roseburg, Ore., to Raymond and Delores Martin. She was the fifth of eight children.
Patty received her BA in Music (Vocal Performance) from the University of Portland in 1981.
She married Ted Edward Duggan II of Alexandria, La., July 24, 1982, and over the course of the next 35 years, the couple lived in Germany and many places throughout the United States including Georgia, Colorado, Texas, California, Tennessee, Washington, Oregon and Indiana before settling in Natchitoches in 2017.
Patty is survived by her mother, Dolores Martin; three brothers; four sisters; her children, Megan (Duggan) Fuson and husband Roy of Elkhart, Ind., Karen Duggan of Elkhart, Audrey Duggan of Vista, Calif., Marc Duggan and wife Amber (Catlin) Duggan of San Antonio, Denise Duggan of Natchez, La., Mary Beth (Duggan) Mills and husband Derek of Norfolk, Va., and Sarah (Duggan) Jackson and husband Dillon of Anchorage, Alaska; and her grandchildren, Corey Fuson, Leo Duggan, Lexi Fuson, Mariah Fuson, Brookelynne Fuson, Lucas Duggan, Elena Duggan, Aurora Mason and Evelyn Jackson.
Funeral services for Patty Duggan will be Saturday, Feb. 15 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Isle Brevelle, with the Rev. Charles Ray officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the church. A rosary led by the Christian Mothers will be offered at 9:30 a.m. The funeral will begin at 10 a.m. followed by interment at St. Augustine Cemetery. After services attendees are invited to gather in the parish hall for fellowship and a potluck meal.
