Dec. 15, 1941 – Feb. 1, 2020

Margaret Pauline Holland Chesser, 78 of Natchitoches, passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, in Natchitoches. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6 at Trinity Baptist Church, 527 Howard St., Natchitoches. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7 at the church with Bro. Ron Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Ramah Cemetery in Ashland. Arrangements are by Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.

Margaret Pauline was born in Red River Parish to Mrs. Clodelia Wren Holland and Mr. Henry Ray Holland Monday, Dec. 15, 1941, at 2 a.m.  Margaret Pauline Holland grew up between Natchitoches and Red River Parish. She was known to her friends and family as “Pauline” or “Dean” around Ashland and Chestnut. She went to school at Ashland High School and took courses at the Natchitoches Trade School.

Margaret was married to Morris T. Chesser Sr. Aug. 7, 1961. Morris and Margaret owned and ran the El Comino Restaurant in Natchitoches from  the mid-70s to the mid-80s. She worked as a bookkeeper for Beall Ladymon Corporation and then retired at City Bank & Trust in Natchitoches.

Throughout her life, Margaret was a strong, compassionate, faithful loving woman of God. Her home church is Trinity Baptist Church in Natchitoches. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special to her. Before her only daughter passed away in November 2018, Lisa Ann and Margaret shared the most special of relationships. “They could talk without a word being spoken.” Margaret also had a great love for her pets, Rocky and Pumpkin. She also had many other loves in her life including selling Mary-Kay cosmetics and flower gardening.

Margaret Pauline Holland Chesser is preceded in death by her father and mother, Henry R. Holland and Clodelia W. Holland; husband, Morris T. Chesser Sr.; daughter, Lisa Ann Chesser Borders; maternal grandparents, Young C. Wren and Mary “Tulue” Dickson Wren; paternal grandparents, Elvis Holland and Annie Stewart Holland; sister, Josie Lee Scott Ball; and brother, Donnie R. Holland.

Margaret is survived by her two sons, Terry Chesser and wife Mary of Ashland and Jerry Chesser of Alexandria; two brothers, W.J. Scott of San Antonio, Texas, and Bill Holland and wife Susan of Marshall, Texas; sister-in-law, Martha Holland of Marshall; grandchildren, Kaleb Chesser, Alexis Stewart, Jared Chesser and Rachael Chesser, all of Natchitoches; great-grandchildren, Dylan Lott and Marcus and Isabella Martinez, all of Natchitoches; and many nieces, nephews and too many cousins to list!

Pallbearers will be Kaleb and Jared Chesser, Fred and Joe Holland and Rex and Ray Holland.

Honorary pallbearers are Ronald Dale and Billy Cox.

In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be sent to her beloved daughter’s memorial scholarship fund at NSU.
