New Media students collect awards at annual showcase

NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University’s Department of New Media, Journalism and Communication Arts closed out the third annual New Media Student Showcase with an awards program for photo entries.

 

This year’s Best in Show was awarded to Jaci Jones for “Sun Surfer.”  People’s Choice went to Dhaija Smith for “Self Reflection.”

 

The cell phone category was a new competition this year.  Winners were first place Zoe Tapp for “All in the Sound,” second place Dhaija Smith for “Africa In Disney World” and Zoe Tapp for “Sunshine Bridge.”

 

Winners in the DSLR category were first place Markeit Steverson for “Sherlock,” second place “Dhaija Smith for “Sky” and third place Charles Bouchie for “This is My Good Side.”

 

The New Media Showcase is an annual juried competition designed showcase the best student photography from the Department of New Media, Journalism and Communication Arts.
