Northwestern State pitcher Jensen Howell was named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Howell (8-3) won all three starts this week, including a pair of SLC victories against Sam Houston State.
The junior allowed just six hits combined her three starts, all complete games.
The Pollock native capped her week with her first career shutout of the Bearkats in which she allowed two hits in five innings in an 8-0 win.
Howell struck out a career-high 10 batters in a 3-1 win at Grambling on Wednesday, surrendering two hits.
The former LSU-Eunice and Louisiana Tech pitcher worked around early trouble in her first start against SHSU, but rebounded to allow two runs (one earned) in a 5-2 victory.
Howell had 22 strikeouts this week and held batters to an .085 batting average. She has six wins in her last seven outings.
