The Governor’s proclamation number 27 regarding the virus prohibits charitable gaming, also known as bingo, during the period March 13 through April 12. The Natchitoches Knights of Columbus have suspended their weekly bingo sessions for the next four weeks. Their next bingo will be Wednesday, April 15. The Natchitoches Young Professionals (NYP) Pub Crawl, set for Saturday, March 21, has been postponed. A new date will be announced at a later time.
The Steel Magnolia Run, set for March 21, has been postponed until a later date.
The Friends of the Library Book Sale, scheduled for March 19-21, at the Martin Luther King Center is being postponed due to the current health crisis.
A scheduled lecture featuring Dr. Susan Dollar has been canceled. Dollar was set to address the Natchitoches Genealogical and Historical Association. The Natchitoches Genealogy Library housed in the Old Courthouse is closed and the NGHA will not meet until further notice.
The Natchitoches Parish Chapter of Grambling State University Alumni Association’s meeting and membership drive has been postponed due to recently COVID-19 concerns. A new date will soon be announced.
Northwestern State University’s Department of Military Science has elected to cancel the military ball Saturday, March 21 due to COVID-19 concerns. The group will incur charges (restocking of linen, food purchased, prep labor, etc.), and are working to determine if / how much they can reimburse for tickets purchased. The Department appreciates the patience of those who planned to attend as the work through these details.
The Natchitoches Area Chamber of Commerce is postponing all March events due to the governor’s proclamation that was issued today. These events include The Natchitoches Young Professionals Pub Crawl, the Chamber’s Legislative Issues Luncheon, and the City of Natchitoches Candidate Forum. All athletic contests at Northwester State University have been cancelled through March 30.
NSU’s Long Purple Line luncheon and induction honoring distinguished alumni and Flavor of Louisiana, the school’s spring scholarship fund raiser, both set for April 4, have been postponed.
Grand Ecore Visitors Center is closed until further notice.
All NSU Creative and Performing Arts public events and performances at are cancelled until further notice beginning Monday, March 16 through April 15.
A March 19 forum for mayoral and city council candidates has also been postponed, as city and state elections scheduled for April and May have been moved to June and July.
The NSU Foundation Scholarship Banquet, the Morgan Extra Mile Scholarship Banquet, the ULS Academic Summit, ULS Day at the Capitol, Scholars’ Day and the Natchitoches Dragon Boat Races are cancelled.
