Gov. John Bel Edwards signed a proclamation that immediately halts any gathering of more than 250 people and closes all K-12 public schools statewide effective Monday, March 16 and resuming Monday, April 13 as Louisiana seeks to slow the spread of COVID-19 in the state. As of midday Friday, Louisiana has 33 presumptive positive cases of COVID-19.
Natchitoches Parish schools were scheduled to be closed April 13 for Easter break. Due to the circumstances, school will resume Monday, April 13.
Full time cafeteria workers, custodians, teachers, long- term subs, paraprofessionals and all administrative personnel will report to work Tuesday, March 17 to prepare for school closure. Part-time employees will not report to work until April 13. This includes day-to-day subs, tutors, cafeteria and custodial subs.
The Natchitoches Parish School Board will have a Special Called Meeting Wednesday, March 18 at 5 p.m. to address many of the issues, questions and concerns, including unemployment. Please be patient at this critical time as we make decisions over the next few days.
