Curfew violators are quickly finding out law enforcement is serious about enforcing the order. Police Chief Micky Dove said Thursday some citations were issued since the order went into effect Tuesday night at 10 p.m. The order covers the entire parish and restricts residents from pedestrian and vehicular travel from 10 p.m.-5 a.m.

xceptions include law enforcement, first responders and those traveling to and from work. Chief Dove said they are extending courtesy to those who may not be aware of the curfew for a few days, but repeat offenders will be arrested.

They are utilizing road blocks and traffic stops. Those traveling to and from work should get paperwork from their employer. Chief Dove reminds those workers that the paperwork does not exempt them from the curfew, it only gives them the right to travel directly to and from their workplace and any other travel is a violation of the curfew order.

He said overall, the public has been courteous when stopped and are willing to obey the order. “We’ve not had a lot of problems,” he said.
