Jonathan “J-Lew” Jacobsen Lewis was born Jan. 26, 1987, at LSU Medical Center, Shreveport, to Georgette Elaine Petite Lewis and John Jacob Lewis. God called him to his eternal home April 21, 2020.

While working at McDonald’s he met an Army recruiter and enlisted Feb. 14, 2007. He was deployed that year to Iraq and injured May 11, 2008, as a result of hostile enemy action. He received a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal and Combat Action Badge among others. He is survived by his daughter, Jalayah Lewis; stepdaughters, Jayna Curry and Ashira Matthews;his mother, Georgette Lewis; significant other, Lourie Lynch; two brothers, Rodney Petite and Shawn Lewis; one sister, Catrena Petite; 11 nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles, and tons of extended family and friends.

He wis preceded in death by his brother, Jamar Lewis; father, John Lewis; stepfather, Liso Taylor; grandparents and uncles.

A service will be at noon Thursday, April 30, at Boyce Community Funeral Home with the Rev. Herbert E. Green officiating. Burial will be Friday, May 1 at Central Louisiana Veterans cemetery in Leesville. A graveside service with military honors will be at a later date.
