April 24, 1938, in the Natchez Community marked a very special date and place in the home of the late Mr. Simon Johnson and Mrs. Irma Green Johnson, for it was the date of their daughter’s birth, Clara Lee. This energetic baby girl lived a full and purpose-driven life until the Lord moved her from earth to a higher place of praise May 5, 2020, at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center. God said “Amen.”

Her Christian journey had roots in her home training characterized by a moral upbringing. It was a natural prelude to her publicly confessing a belief in Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, being water baptized and uniting with the Morning Star Baptist Church in Natchez. As she grew spiritually, she became a devoted member of the Goodwill Baptist Church in Natchitoches where she served dutifully until her health declined.

She met and married the late Mr. David Rachal Sr. and they became the parents of eight children.

This feisty lady will be remembered for her incomparable love of flowers, her devotion to her family and her fiery wit that came about quickly when the need arose.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; brother, Felix Johnson; and five children who died in their infancy.

Those who shall miss her deeply but will always cherish her dear memory are her survivors, including eight children, David Rachal Jr. of Florien, Melvin Rachal of Coushatta, Corena Mitchell Williams (James) of Natchitoches, Carolyn Rachal of Natchitoches, Ronald Rachal (Youlanda) of Campti, Marvin Rachal of Natchitoches, Robert Rachal of Fisher and Cathy Smith (Elijah) of Natchitoches; one sister, Gertrude Johnson of Texas City, Texas; and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
