Steer wrestler among top 10 in state

Jacob Townsend, a freshman from Natchitoches Parish competed last week at the La. High School Rodeo Association finals in Sulpher in steer wrestling.

Townsend finished in ninth place in the state after an eight-week hiatus due to a dislocated shoulder and rotator cuff injury. He was medically released just last Wednesday to compete.

Townsend is ranked in first place nationally in the Little Britches Rodeo Association and will compete in their nationals in Oklahoma City, Okla., July 5-12.
