MANY, LA

March 17, 1945-May 11, 2020

Jimmy Earl ‘Bud’ Pitre was born March 17, 1945, in Jonesboro to Maude Miles Pitre and Aaron Pitre. He passed away Monday, May 11, 2020, in Shreveport after several months of declining health. He was a resident of Many.

Bud had a wonderful childhood, growing up in the 1950s. He graduated from Jonesboro-Hodge High School in 1963 and attended Louisiana Tech. His career was in the paper industry, working in several locations including Hodge, Augusta, Ga., Pineville and Campti. He had been retired several years. During his career he made many steadfast friends with whom he kept in close contact.

Bud loved hunting, fishing, fast cars and cooking Cajun dishes. Of everything he treasured though, he most loved and appreciated his family.

He leaves behind his son, Brett Pitre of Jonesboro; daughter, Susan Pitre Henson of Natchitoches; and grandchildren, Madison and Colin Henson of Natchitoches. The true apple of his eye was Jace Laughlin, his 2-year-old grandson. Jace brought much pride, happiness and laughter to Bud. He is also survived by his sisters, Joan Jones and husband Gene of Pineville, Barbara Johnson of Quitman and Patsy Richmond and husband Ron of Baton Rouge and several nieces and nephews with whom he had special relationships.

Going before Bud in death were his mother and father; brother, Aaron Pitre Jr.; brother-in-law, Richard Johnson; and his precious niece, Kelli Leigh Richmond.

A family graveside service will be at a later date.

Any memorials may be made to The Kelli Richmond Ovarian Cancer Foundation, 3052 DuSoleil Court, Baton Rouge, LA 70810.
