Lakeview Jr./Sr. High School hosted an auxiliary graduation June 8 for two students of the class of 2020 who are departing for military service within the next two weeks. Zack Favela and Ethan Nelson are four-year members of Lakeview’s Air Force Jr. ROTC and have joined the United States Air Force.
Nelson will train as a Security Forces Specialist and Favela will train as an Unmanned Aerospace Systems Sensor Operator. Nelson graduates with Work Keys Certification. His most recent cadet position was the special assistant to the Aerospace Science Instructor, for Logistics Management, and previously served as Commander of the Marksmanship Team and a member of the POW/MIA Team. He earned 30 unit level ribbons and two national medals as a cadet.

Nelson also participated in 26 school/community service events, performed 98 hours of school/community service, 74 hours of Leadership Development Requirements and led five local parades as part of the Color Guard Team. He was also a member of FFA and Beta Club.
Favela graduates Cum Laude and Work Keys Certification. His most recent cadet position was Cadet Group Commander. He previously served as the Cadet Support Squadron Commander, Drill Team Commander and the POW/MIA Team Commander.
He earned 66 unit level ribbons and three national medals as a cadet. Favela participated in 63 school/community service events, performed 232 school/community service hours, 157 hours of Leadership Development Requirements and 36 color guard events.
He also Commanded 10 drill competitions, earning at least one trophy in each meet, and 23 trophies overall. He supervised and led four curriculum in action overnight trips for junior cadets. He also held officer positions in FFA and has participated in Literary Rally.
