James Lester Metoyer Sr., 57, of Cloutierville passed away July 12, 2020, surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Derry to Anthony and Augustine Rachal Metoyer on Dec. 21, 1962. James graduated from St. Matthews High School in 1981. He married Elizabeth Rachal, the love of his life, in 1982.

James Sr. is survived by Elizabeth; his son, James L. Metoyer Jr. (Jennifer); and siblings, Mary Ida Below, Florence Rachal (James Ray), Betty Jo Roque (Charles), Cloteel Christophe (David) and Etheline Gallion (Johnny); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  James Sr. was preceded in death by parents, Anthony and Augustine Metoyer; sister, Adeline Pellerin; and brother, Chester Metoyer.

James Sr. was a God-loving man; his church and faith meant everything. He was a behind the scenes type of person, working with the parish youth, participating in multiple church mission trips, making the needed repairs for his church, serving as Eucharist Minister – bringing Holy Eucharist to the sick, and as an avid Harley Davidson fan organized the church poker run ride for over 10 years.

Family was the most important aspect of life to him. He was kind, gentle and humble, always willing to lend a helping hand to someone who needed it, whether they asked or not. His love of helping others led him to his career of maintenance work with the Natchitoches Parish Housing Authority for 26 years, fixing those little or major things.
