Saint Mary’s graduate and baseball player Evan Gandy, like the rest of his teammates, had his senior season hastily ended with the Coronavirus outbreak in March. It was a season so many looked forward to, especially the seniors whom would play their last games as a high school athlete. For most, it would be the last time one plays competitively.

Not so for Gandy.

He will continue his academic and athletic pursuits at Texas A&M Texarkana. The Texarkana school competes in the Red River Athletic conference along with Louisiana programs at LSUA and LSUS. Gandy will play for the Eagles, a NAIA program that had an 18 and 8 record before they, too, had their season canceled.

Gandy is the son of Ray and Dawn Gandy. His sister, Kara, is a senior at NSU. Ray is a teacher at St. Mary’s and is excited for his son’s opportunity at the next level.

Evan plans to major in Sports Management at the Texarkana school.
