Two people are in custody in connection with the shooting of a Winn Parish juvenile in Natchez Saturday, July 18 according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright.
Xavier J. Wright, 17, of Glenmora, was accompanied by his mother when he turned himself in to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Detectives today, July 20, at approximately 11 a.m.
Wright was charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder and transported to Ware Youth Center in Red River Parish pending a hearing in the Tenth Judicial District Court.
On Sunday, July 19 at approximately 2:03 a.m., Cynthia R. Jones of Natchitoches was charged with Principle to Attempted 2nd Degree Murder after detectives contacted her and she was interviewed at the NPSO Criminal Investigations Division.
Jones remains in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center awaiting bond.

Detectives searching for attempted murder suspect; ties to Rapides Parish Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Detectives are searching for a Rapides Parish juvenile wanted for Attempted 2nd-Degree Murder in connection with the shooting of a Winn Parish juvenile in Natchez Saturday, July 18.
Detectives and other law enforcement agencies are searching for Xavier J. Wright, aka/Zaye, 17, b/m, Height 6 feet, 1inch, 117 pound, with black hair and brown eyes, with a last known address in Glenmora. Wright also has ties to the Pineville area.
At approximately 5:53 p.m. July 18, NatCom 911 Center received a call from a stranded motorist on La. Hwy 1 near Rapides Drive in Natchitoches reporting he was transporting a male suffering from a gunshot wound to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center. The caller requested assistance.
Patrol deputies, Natchitoches Police Department and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS responded. Units arrived on the scene and learned that a 17-year-old Winn Parish juvenile was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest as a result of a shooting in the parking lot of Natchez Place Apartments in the 100 block of La. Hwy 119, Natchez.
Deputies, Sheriff Stuart Wright and detectives responded. While speaking with witnesses, detectives learned that a 2014-16 black Toyota Camry passenger car was involved and fled the area shortly after the shooting. A law enforcement message was issued to local and surrounding agencies to BOLO for the vehicle possibly traveling to the Rapides Parish area.
The victim was transported to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center and later airlifted to LSU Health, Shreveport in serious condition. The victim is currently listed in stable condition. Throughout the evening and late into the night, detectives interviewed witnesses.
Detectives developed leads and contacted one of the occupants of the Toyota Camry. The person reported to the Criminal Investigations Division. A search warrant was issued for the vehicle. That person is currently being detained in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with Principle to Attempted 2nd- Degree Murder. (Name currently being withheld pending investigation).
As the investigation progressed, detectives developed sufficient evidence and probable cause to identify Xavier J. Wright as the alleged shooter. A criminal warrant for Attempted 2nd-Degree Murder was signed by a Tenth Judicial District Court Judge.
Detectives say Wright is believed to armed and dangerous. Wright has been placed in the National Crime Information Center as a wanted person. If you see Wright, do not approach him.
