Saint Mary’s announced the date for the annual Steak Supper night. This will be a glimmer of hope that we may return to something familiar. Mark your calendar for Aug. 21. This is believed to be the 46th annual event at school. Unfortunately, with the current state of COVID uncertainty, things will, of course, be different this year. If allowed, there will be a scrimmage against Holy Savior Menard behind the school. For that to happen, the State will have to be in phase III, and we are currently in phase II till Aug. 7. The deadline for ticket purchase is Aug. 12.
Curbside pick-up of meals will be the method of distribution unless the previously mentioned recovery phase is changed. If that occurs, there would be the possibility of dining at the Knight’s of Columbus hall next to school. The time of food service will be from 5-7 p.m. Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased from students or by contacting the school. You can reach out to the coach, Aaron York, or Melissa Frye at 352-8394 for tickets. Tickets include steak, potatoes, green-beans and dessert.
The annual Steak Supper is the benefit fundraiser for all sports and spirit groups including cheer and dance line. In addition, the school will receive a portion of funds raised. Since the spring golf tournament and crawfish boil were canceled, it’s more important than ever to support these young people. They, like many, need your generosity to make the most of their extracurricular activities in these trying times.
While mentioning uncertain times, I have to say that no all-sports passes will be sold this year. This is mainly due to the ever-changing nature of when any high school athletics will commence. Of additional note, home football games will be on campus this year, a first ever in the history of Saint Mary’s. Sept. 4 is the potential start of football and that game is scheduled as a home game. Bon appetite Tiger fans, and here’s hoping we return to athletics.
