District Attorney Billy Joe Harrington announced that a grand jury has returned true bill indictments for two Natchitoches Parish people for murder.

The grand jury indicted A.L. Simmons Jr., 20, of Campti with one count of 1st degree murder. The indictment resulted from the homicide of Allen Darrel Halford in June 2020 in Clarence.

In a separate case, the grand jury also indicted Onterio Pier, 27, of Natchitoches with one count of 2nd degree murder. The indictment resulted from the homicide of Latrice Thomas in May 2020 in Natchitoches Parish.

The defendants will be arraigned on the charges at an upcoming court date.

“We are pleased with the grand jury’s indictments and are prepared to move forward with the prosecution of these cases,” said District Attorney Billy Joe Harrington.
