Services for Betty Ivy Nielsen will be at Ascension Baptist Church, Gonzales, Oct. 15 at 11 a.m. Graveside services will be Oct. 16 at 11 a.m. at Coldwater Baptist Church.

Betty was born Nov. 30, 1954, in Natchitoches to T.J. Ivy Sr. and Pearl Ivy. She left her earthly home Oct. 11, 2020. Betty was raised in the Coldwater Community.

She attended NSU and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1982, a bachelors degree in computer information systems in 1983 and a Masters of Business Administration in 1984. In 1986 she moved to New Orleans and worked for Bell South 20 years. She was an active member of Ascension Baptist Church where she served on numerous committees and sang in the choir.

Her favorite name was GMB (Grandmaw Betty). She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmaw and friend.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jerry Ivy.

She is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Chris Nielsen; daughter, Meshelle Martin Mobley and husband Perry; grandchildren, Paige Dyess and husband Jon, Dylan Cheatwood and wife Marie, and Katelyn and Kelsie Miley; great-grandchildren, Gabriella Shaw, Donny and Atlas Dyess, and Weston and Hayston Cheatwood; brother, T.J. Ivy Jr. and wife Mary; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Dylan Cheatwood, Perry Mobley, Jon Dyess, Kendall Miley, Tommy Daniels and Bubby Ivy.
