A traffic stop north of Campti Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 9:26 p.m. led to the arrest of a Red River Parish woman on felony drug charges.
Deputies patrolling US-71 stopped a 2009 Dodge pickup truck, operated by Casey D. Thomas, 28, of Coushatta, for a traffic violation.

Thomas gave deputies conflicting information that led them to believe criminal activity existed.

A Natchitoches Multijurisdictional Drug Task Force K-9 Unit responded to assist.
K-9 “Misty” alerted to the vehicle for the presence of a narcotic odor.
A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of approximately 2-grams suspected methamphetamine and two suspected Clonazepam narcotic pills.

Thomas was charged with Possession of CDS Schedule II Methamphetamine and Possession of CDS Schedule IV Clonazepam.
She remains in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center awaiting bond.

The seized evidence will be submitted to the crime lab for narcotics identification for criminal court proceedings.
