NATCHITOCHES – Former Northwestern State All-American offensive lineman Marcus Spears has been in a giving mood for the past couple of months.
With the holidays approaching, Spears and the Food Bank of Central Louisiana have partnered for another food giveaway for Natchitoches Parish residents. The third of its kind will take place Friday from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in the parking lot near the Collins Alumni Pavilion on the NSU campus.
Each of Spears’ first two food drives has provided food for numerous families from around the parish, including more than 300 who benefited from the first event in September.
Spears, an N-Club Hall of Famer, again will team with Northwestern State student-athletes, who will work with Spears and food bank employees, to fill vehicles with meats, produce and beverages for families from across Natchitoches Parish.
As was the case with the first two food drives, goods will be distributed in drive-thru fashion with recipients needing to provide photo identification. There are no income restrictions to receive any distributed food.
