It took less than 10 minutes for Parish Council Chairman John Salter to call the meeting to order, have the invocation and Pledge of Allegiance and get a unanimous vote to rescind a previous vote on an ordinance that would have made the parish clerk position part-time.

The action came during a brief special called meeting Monday afternoon with Salter, Patsy-Ward Hoover and Jim Kilcoyne voting yes. Chris Paige and Marty Cheatwood were absent.

The ordinance was tabled at the September meeting and then voted on favorably at the Oct. 19 meeting. Parish President John Richmond vetoed the Oct. 19 vote on the grounds that the vote on the ordinance was not on the agenda. The council was advised to rescind the vote which it did at the meeting Monday.

The next regular meeting of the Parish Council will be Monday, Nov. 16 at 5:30 p.m.
