The Lakeview Lady Gators looked to make their good start great when they matched up against North Desoto Griffins Tuesday in their second and final game in the Mac Braxton Tournament. Lakeview absolutely dominated them last year in the tournament, and nothing changed in 2020. The Lady Gators instantly put the pressure on North Desoto, keeping the full court press going the entire first quarter.

The girls got steal after steal; six in a row to start the game. And with every steal came a fast break score. Lakeview put up 12 unmatched points before the Griffins could knock down a three to finally hit the scoreboard. Zenobia Poydras stood out in the first quarter, scoring 10 points on the Griffins defense, some on fast breaks, others in the post. She showed a very well-rounded game that night. The first quarter ended with a huge lead for Lakeview at 29-7.

The second quarter came with more domination from Poydras and Lakeview. Poydras got another 10 points in this quarter, with some nice highlights from Janaiya Fisher and Shari Smith who shined as the PG off the bench in this game. The Griffins would only knock down one three this quarter at the very end of the half, to make it 57-10 at halftime. When the young ladies came back out, Head Coach Dewaskie Fuller decided to give his starters a break and let the young bench develop.

And they honestly showed great potential and will help out when needed later in the year. Smith is set to have a great year as the leader off the bench; she finished with 11 points. The player of the game, though, is Poydras who led her team in rebounding and finished with a nice 20 points as the senior led her team to a 76-15 win. This pushes the Lady Gators to 4-0 and puts them in prime position to show out the rest of the year.
