After losing three out of their last four, the Lakeview Lady Gators had to get the ball rolling again if they wanted to keep their hopes up to make a run at state. This meant pushing the ball when they took on Wossman Monday, Jan. 4.
The game began with straight domination by the Lady Gators. Zenobia Poydras got inside for back to back buckets in the paint followed by a layup from Trinity Browder. Timberly Washington got her first points of the game with a shot from under the goal, and on the next possession Wossman finally got on the board.
Janaiya Fisher hit the scoring column next with an easy driving layup. Poydras was the first to hit from outside on the next play. She got another shot to fall inside followed by a three from Washington to finish off the quarter with a lead of 19-13.
Wossman found a way inside and scored to open up the second quarter. On the next play, Janaiya Fisher took the ball in the corner, faked out her defender and made a beautiful driving layup on the inside. There was a lot of back and forth scoring from each side for the majority of the second. Lakeview led 35-26 at halftime. The third quarter was low scoring, each team only putting up 6 points apiece, a season low for Lakeview
Wossman attempted a comeback but Lakeview gave them no wiggle room. Asharia Smith had eight points in the last few minutes to cap off the game, and Lakeview walked away with their eighth win of the season with a final score of 58-41.
