Drive-by fundraiser organized for woman after losing home to fire

Neighbors, former neighbors and friends, have come together to host a fundraiser for Natchitoches resident, Florence Hampton Robinson.

Midmorning, Tuesday, Jan. 5, Robinson’s home was destroyed by fire in the 1200 block of Amulet Street. She was in the house at the time and was able to escape through a front door without major injuries.

Due to the continued guidelines for the coronavirus (COVID-19), a drive-by fundraiser (donors can remain in their vehicles will donating) will be Saturday, Jan. 16 from 3-5 p.m. in the parking lot of First Baptist Church, 1116 Amulet St. “Showing Love” is the theme for the event, which will aid Robinson with miscellaneous and transition expenses.

“As we build better communities together, it is important that we seek to help our fellow man whenever needed. Plus, ‘Ms. Florence’ has helped so many in Jackson Square community through the years,” said Natchitoches City-councilman Chris Petite, one of the volunteer organizers for the helping hands event.

A Go Fund Me account has also been established. For more information, call (318) 352-3314.
