The Lakeview Lady Gators are a force to be reckoned with this year, and with district looming they had no plans of slowing down their pace. On Thursday, Jan, 7 they took a trip to Pleasant Hill for a chance at their 10th win of the year. The game began with senior Zenobia Poydras getting two trips to the line and knocking down three of the four shots. Timberly Washington, who has had made such a massive jump this season, sunk two at the line for Lakeview’s next points.
Pleasant Hill got inside and made a layup to put them on the scoreboard. Asharia Smith drove and got her first two of the game after Janaiya Fisher had to come out due to a cut. Fisher didn’t waste any time once she got back in the game. She made a beautiful hop-step layup, and scored again almost immediately on a following fast break. Lakeview led at the end of the first quarter 18-4.
Pleasant Hill put up the first points of the second quarter with a layup that was followed by a midrange jumper by the Gator’s Jameisha Fisher. A few minutes later Janaiya Fisher dropped in her first three of the game from the corner to continue to push the lead. Lakeview’s next possession had the older sister, Jameisha, getting a shot to go down from deep as well. Pleasant Hill could not stop the Lady Gator train from rolling.
Trinity Browder got a steal and fast break layup to end the half to give Lakeview a 39-12 lead at the break. With such a great lead Head Coach Dewaskie Fuller got his role player more valuable minutes to close out the game.
Senior Shakayla Browder had a fast break steal and score to close out the third quarter and that was all she wrote. Lakeview walked victorious 52-18, helping their attempt to try and secure a home court advantage with a #4 seed in the playoffs.
Lakeview has a huge game Friday, Jan. 15 against Jonesboro whose girls are currently ranked sixth while Lakeview is one above at number five. This will certainly not be one you want to miss.
