The family of Gwendolyn Janiece Roge’ Ainsworth of Melrose is saddened to announce her passing Jan. 16, 2021, at the age of 81.
A service to honor the life of Janiece will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Boyt officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Janiece was born Jan. 20, 1939, in Cloutierville to Felix and Viola Airhart Roge’.
She worked at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches for 27 years, retiring in 1994. Janiece was a very loving and caring person who was devoted to her family. She enjoyed retirement, traveling and spending time on the porch overlooking Cane River. She also enjoyed genealogy, crocheting and crafting in her spare time. Most of all, she cherished her family dearly with family time being paramount. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, William “Bill” Rathburn Jr. and wife Jane and John Rathburn and wife Dianne; sister, Ernestine Hassan; brother, Louis Roge’; grandchildren, Stacy Brimer, Lindsey French, Thomas Freeman, Flynt Nelson and Jennifer Waters; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years, Eugene Ainsworth; parents, Felix and Viola Airhart Roge’; brothers, Joseph Roge’ Sr., and Harold Roge’ Sr.; sister, Cora Lee Roge’; and one great-grandchild.
