The Lakeview Lady Gators have been absolutely rolling this season, and as the front runners in District, teams come into games terrified of the talent on this team. Last Friday, Jan. 8, was no different as Lakeview took a trip to Alexandria to face off against Peabody.
Lakeview got on the board first as Timberly Washington got an easy steal and fast break score. Peabody countered with a layup inside crowded paint. At one minute in, Lakeview took the game and ran with it. Jameisha Fisher got her first two with her signature midrange jumper followed by an and-one by Saniyah Marshall, who finished two points short of a triple-double.
Jameisha knocked down a three with little sister, Janaiya, getting an and-one to fall down shortly thereafter. Fisher missed the free throw, but Zenobia Poydras captured the rebound and dropped it in to push the lead to double digits. Lakeview leads 13-2 after one. A couple minutes into the second, Janaiya hit a tough layup followed by Peabody making their second FG of the game, a three. Marshall got second chance points to fall, followed by a fast break from Washington.
She got another steal and fast break to go down before Peabody hit a jumper close to the buzzer as Lakeview led at halftime, 23-8. The Lady Gators outscored Peabody 24-13 in the second half, as the pressure was too much for the opposition. Lakeview walked away with their 10th win of the season, 47-21.
Jameisha Fisher finished as lead scorer with 13 and Washington chalked up a double-double.
