Monique Monette, a Natchitoches resident and 2020 high school graduate from Oasis of Love Christian Academy, has recently published her first book, “OpenHearted: Poems.”

This book is a collection of Monique’s poetry about faith in God, life, the COVID-19 pandemic, and nature. She refers to OpenHearted: Poems as an unfiltered picture of her beating heart. In her words, “These are honest poems of joy, faith, heartache, beauty, hope and love.”

She published this uplifting collection of her poetry following her writing motto, “reflecting on what is lovely, truthful, and joyful.”  Monique’s Christian poetry book became available for sale in December 2020 on Amazon.com.

“A deep love for reading and reciting poetry blossomed in me from when I was in school,” said Monette. “That is what sparked my interest and desire to write my own poems. I really started writing poetry a lot in high school. However, I had been intently working on my book for about four months before I got it published.”

“OpenHearted: Poems” can be found online at https://www.amazon.com/OpenHearted-Poems-Miss-Monique-Monette/dp/B08QLNXPT7.

Monette is continuing to follow her dreams and hopes to publish more inspiring books in the future. She is the daughter of Jamie and Priscilla Monette, and the granddaughter of Judy Monette and the late Donald Monette maternally, and David Christophe, Sr. and Cloteel Christophe paternally.
