Bennett Ellis Pratt, 78, and a resident of Natchitoches, passed away Jan. 6, 2021, in Natchitoches. He was born Feb. 13, 1942, to Carrie Mae Ellis Pratt and Charles J. Pratt.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Bennett Daniel Pratt.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Daniel Pratt; a son, Christopher Ellis Pratt; a brother, Donald Ray Pratt; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Known by all as Ben, he received a bachelor degree in education from NSU and then a masters degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. For many years he taught mathematics and physical education in the New Orleans public school system. After the passing of his mother, he moved back to Natchitoches and began teaching at Natchitoches Central and was also the gymnastic coach there as well. He was a parishioner of Trinity Episcopal Church in Natchitoches. He had a heart of gold and truly loved helping anyone in need.
Due to the restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, a memorial mass and entombment in the Trinity Episcopal Bell Tower Columbarium will be at a later date.
