Three senior student athletes from St. Mary’s Catholic School were selected as part of the 2020-21 Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) All-State Composite Team for winter sports. The LHSAA All-Academic Award Program recognizes the academic excellence of senior student athletes who have attained a 4.0 grade point average by placing them on the composite All-American Team.
•Laura Aviles, daughter of Frank and Anne Aviles, has maintained a 4.0 grade point average while playing varsity basketball at St. Mary’s Catholic School. She has been a member of the team for three years while also competing with the varsity track team. Aviles has been involved with Future Business Leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes/Pro Life Club and Student Council throughout her high school years. She has participated with Beta Club, National Honor Society and the Natchitoches Leo Club for the last three years. Aviles has also enjoyed volunteering with the local organization, Hope for Paws, for the last six years. She plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the fall and major in biology/pre-med.
•Maggie Gilmore, daughter of Eric and Jaime Gilmore, has maintained a 4.0 grade point average while competing for the Lady Tiger basketball team at St. Mary’s Catholic School. Her favorite memories include getting to play her freshman season with her older sister Sarah who was a senior, as well as winning the state championship in 2020. Over her four years of high school, Gilmore has also been involved in indoor track, outdoor track, cross country, cheerleading and tennis. She is a member of National Honor Society, the Natchitoches Leo Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Beta Club and Student Council where she currently serves as president. She plans to attend Louisiana Tech University in the fall and major in biomedical engineering.
•Jensen Parker, daughter of Jason and Mandy Parker, has maintained a 4.0 grade point average while playing varsity sports at St. Mary’s Catholic High School. She is a fifth year member of the varsity basketball team and is the current team captain. She was named all district honorable mention for three years. She received the team defense outstanding player award for three years. She was a member of the 2020 Division IV State Championship Team. Parker also competes on the varsity cross country and track teams. She is lieutenant captain of the varsity cheerleading squad where she received the All-American award for two years. She’s a member of Student Council, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes/Pro-Life Club and the Natchitoches Leo Club. She currently serves as president of the Future Business Leaders of America and secretary of the Beta Club. Jensen was named the 2020 Female High School Heisman Scholarship Award Winner for the state of Louisiana. Parker plans to attend the University of Arkansas in the fall and major in communication disorders.
