Reading on the River set for March on downtown Natchitoches riverbank

The Service League of Natchitoches is partnering with several community organizations to host Reading on the River Saturday, March 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Natchitoches riverbank.

The free, fun event for Pre-K to 5th grade children and their parents will include book-related activities for children to enjoy and for families to take home to encourage reading. Each child who attends will be able to take home at least one free new or used book.

Applications are now open for vendors to participate in this popular event. There is no cost for participation, and vendors are responsible for their own tent/booth space, table, chairs and decorations. Tent and booth space are available on a first come, first served basis. Each vendor should select a theme of their choice, whether centered around a popular children’s book or organization-specific. Vendors should provide at least one activity for attendees, such as storytelling, a small craft activity, or a coloring sheet. Creativity is encouraged! Vendor set-up will begin at 7 a.m. on Saturday, March 6. A back-up location has been chosen in the event of inclement weather.

If you or your organization are interested in partnering with the Service League to make this year’s event fun and beneficial for area children, contact Karen Lee by Feb.27 at kmlee@yahoo.com or 985-237-0208.
