On Monday, Jan. 26 at 2:44 a.m., NPSO deputies were patrolling on La. Hwy 494 near the Cedar Grove Sub-Division south of Natchitoches when they stopped a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe for a traffic violation. Deputies identified the operator of the vehicle, but also observed an unresponsive male, later identified as Demarcus R. Williams, 32, of Campti slumped in the passenger seat. Deputies summoned Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS to evaluate Williams.

DEMARCUS WILLIAMS EVIDENCE

Deputies say as they assisted Williams out of the vehicle, a bag containing approximately 14.24 grams of suspected methamphetamine fell from his pocket onto the ground. A search of the vehicle also led to the seizure of a small amount of suspected marijuana. Williams was transported to NRMC and later released.

Based on the narcotics seizure, deputies obtained a criminal warrant signed by a 10th Judicial District Court for Williams’ arrest. Deputies looked for Williams after his release from the hospital but were unsuccessful. On Jan. 31 at 12:30 a.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on Lake Street in Campti. Williams was the driver.

Deputies arrested:

Williams is charged with Possession of CDS I Marijuana and Possession of CDS II Methamphetamine and was released on bond pending his court appearance. The seized narcotics will be submitted to the crime lab for narcotics analysis.

Lt. M. Powell was assisted by Deputies E. Mogridge, C. Halliburton and J. Augustus.
