Rivalry Renewed

On Friday, March 5 at 6:30 p.m. the top seeded Natchitoches Central Chiefs play host to the Captain Shreve Gators. This is a matchup that is supposed to have happened twice this season, but due to the ever-evolving COVID situation, both games were cancelled. After escaping upset bids from Sulphur and Slidell, the Gators are going up against the number one team in the district.

The Chiefs are coming off an outstanding victory against upset minded St. Amant Gators Tuesday night, a game that featured multiple comeback runs from St. Amant, but in the end, the Chiefs made the necessary adjustments on both offense and defense to advance to the quarterfinals.

Since 2017, the Chiefs have defeated Captain Shreve four consecutive games. Friday, the Chiefs will be looking to make it five. With not only bragging rights on the line but a trip to the top 28, Captain Shreve will put everything on the line. This quarterfinals matchup will decide not only who will play the winner of Bonnabel and Hahnville, but who will make it to Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles. Captain Shreve will have their hands full with the Chiefs and their explosive offense and tenacious defense.
