Fourth Annual Cane River Film Festival set for March 19-20

The Resurrection Fern Foundation Inc. has announced the Fourth Annual Cane River Film Festival (CRFF), set for March 19-20 in Natchitoches. The festival is produced by the Resurrection Fern Foundation Inc., a non-profit for historic preservation created by Kelly Jackson, producer, director, SAG/AFTRA union actor and a descendant of the Metoyer family legacy.

Jackson moved from Los Angeles to Louisiana for the research and development of a feature film she is prepared to produce, “Resurrection Fern,” about her Cane River Creole family history. During this process, she created the Cane River film festival to further educate and celebrate her heritage.

Independent Filmmakers and Film students from all over the World can add to the spirit of Louisiana storytelling by submitting their film to the festival, that has a $1,500 cash grand prize donated by the Natchitoches Historic District Development Commission. The CRFF will have film screenings at the Louisiana School for Math, Science and Arts (LSMSA) and the Welcome Reception Awards Ceremony at NSU, Natchitoches Room, along with the youth actors’ work camp at the Ben Johnson Auditorium Educational Center/ Legacy Cafe, where participants will learn about fresh-to-farm and filmmaking Kirby Voss.
