Lakeview FFA participated in Blooming on the Bricks in Natchitoches Saturday, March 13, 2021. FFA members volunteered their time to setup and sell projects that were built in agriculture classes at Lakeview Jr./Sr. High School. Projects ranged from picnic tables, hanging basket holders, metal art and hanging baskets filled with plants students propagated.

The money raised will help pay for FFA members to compete in Career Development Events and the FFA Banquet hosted at the end of the school year. If you are interested in purchasing any projects, contact the Ag. Dept at Lakeview Jr./Sr. High School at (318) 476-3360.

These students volunteered to work at Bloomin’ on the Bricks and also helped build the projects. From left are Christian Coker, Jesse Stewart, Naeer Barker, Meagan Corley and Taylor Stewart.

“No one or two students can take credit for any of these projects,” said Sarah Mallette, the LHS FFA sponsor. “It was a joint effort from all the classes that involved multiple students from different grades.  This gives a lot of students a chance to be involved and learn about how the projects come together.” The students have also recently learned to use the plasma cutter, which is the result of all the designed metal cut-outs. The majority of these students are supervised by agriscience teacher David Yount in their upper level agriculture classes such as: Ag. II, C4M and Welding.

“Many of the projects sold Saturday at Bloomin’ on the Bricks, such as picnic tables, cypress bench, hanging basket holders, metal art and hanging baskets of golden pothos and spider plants. This was our first outing with such a diversified group of projects and we hope to be able to participate in future exhibitions.” said Dyson.
