The Fifth Annual Dylan Kyle Poche Memorial Bass Tournament was Saturday, March 27. There were 249 teams registered. The tournament paid back to the fishermen $33,950 for first-35th place plus 12 places with prizes for a Top 47 payout.
Tournament winners of the $10,000 grand prize was the team of Trey Morgan and John W. Canerday with a five fish stringer weighing 27.11 pounds.
Second place went to Jim Franklin and Matt Morgan with 26.53 pounds for their five fish.
Third place was Dylan Slaughter and James Williamson with five fish weighing 25.19 pounds.
The Big Bass award went to Herby Dauphinet and David Thompson who landed a 10.79 pounder. Raffle winners were Don Rodriges, a 2021 Honda Rancher; Jim Lancaster, a trolling motor; and Hunter Greer, $500.
The Dylan Kyle Poche Memorial Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization set up to give fishing scholarships to students attending Northwestern State University. Poche was born March 10, 1997, and was an avid outdoorsman who joined the Natchitoches Central High School Fishing Team and was an accomplished angler. After graduating from NCHS with honors in 2015, he enrolled at NSU to pursue a bachelor’s degree and joined the fishing team in the hopes of eventually becoming a professional angler. Poche tragically lost his life Jan. 31, 2016.
