It seems having the solid waste tax on the ballot has already boost interest in voting. In the March primary, only 50 people voted on the first day of early voting. On the first day of the run off election, there were 157 who voted early.
Last Saturday, April 10 marked the beginning of the run off election between Michael Melerine and Cassie Williams for the BESE board seat in Dist. 4. Also on the ballot is the 1% sales tax for Dist. 1 which covers the entire parish outside the Natchitoches city limits and pays for solid waste (trash) operations with the surplus going to the road fund.
No matter your stance on any of the races, GO VOTE!
Early voting continues all this week at the Registrar of Voters office in the Courthouse. Hours are 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Have a photo ID and mask up.
