Voting was brisk yesterday as 58 people turned out at the courthouse to cast their ballots. The majority of the 172 votes were via absentee ballots. The Registrar of Voters office tabulated 120 absentee, or mail in, ballots.
Of those voting, 63 were Republicans and 93 were Democrats. The remaining 22 votes were by other party voters.
Two items are on the ballot, the solid waste tax and the BESE board run off.
Early voting hours are 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. through Saturday, April 17.
