The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, (DOTD), advises the public that on Monday, May 3, construction will begin on I-49 in Natchitoches Parish.
This work will take place north of the LA 6 exit and will proceed north to the Natchitoches/Desoto Parish line.
The intent of this project is to remove and replace all existing signage on the I-49 main line, as well as, all exit ramps and over passes. Related work will include removing existing signs and sign foundations, and installing new sign foundations, new posts, and new signs.
The public is advised to remain alert to construction signs and changing roadway conditions. I-49 will remain open to traffic but travelers will experience periodic shoulder closures for the duration of the project.
The project was awarded to the low bidder, Alpha Service and Products, Inc., in the amount of $525,121.50.
Permit/Detour Section
Through traffic will be maintained, although travelers will experience periodic shoulder closures. Permitted loads will be allowed.
