Traffic stop intercepts over a thousand suspected Alprazolam’s (Xanax) destined for the Natchitoches area

Natchitoches Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force

According to a Task Force official, On 5/12/2021 Agents assigned to the Natchitoches Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force conducted a traffic stop on a 2015 Nissan Altima near the intersection of Rapides Dr. and Airport Rd. Upon contact, the driver was identified as, Charles McCray, 26, and the passenger as, Ladiashia Scott, 26, both of Natchitoches. Agents learned that McCray and Scott both had active warrants through the NPSO. As the investigation continued, Scott provided verbal and written consent to search her vehicle. While searching the vehicle, Agents located approximately 1,027 blue tablets labeled suspected to be Alprazolam (Xanax). McCray advised Agents that Scott did not have any knowledge of the suspected narcotics that were located.
Due to ongoing investigation, Agents were able to establish probable cause to execute a search warrant in the 300 block of Lakeview Dr. During the search, Agents recovered a 22 cal. Revolver, which McCray admitted belonged belong to him.

As a result of the investigation, McCray and Scott were arrest and charge with the following charges:

R.S. 40:966C – Possession of CDS I (Marijuana)
R.S. 14:95.1 – Possession of firearm by a convicted felon
R.S. 40:1023 – Possession of drug paraphernalia
R.S. 32:306 – Turn signal required
R.S. 32:361 – Improper window tint
R.S. 32:415 – Driving under suspension
Art. 737 – Failure to appear

R.S. 14:56 Simple criminal damage to property w/graffiti
McCray was placed into the NPDC awaiting bond. Scott was released after posting bond for the active warrant.
Based upon an interview with McCray, Agents estimate the street value of the seized narcotics to be approximately $10,000.
