A memorial service will be June 5 at 2 p.m. at Oasis of Love Fellowship, 7681 Hwy 1 By-Pass, Natchitoches, for Thomas Alton Manry, 84; beloved husband, Dad, Pawpaw, Sarge and friend.
Tom was born Jan. 29, 1937, in Livingston, Texas. On May 21, 2021, after several illnesses, God called our beloved home.
Tom served 21 years in military service, receiving an honorable discharge Nov. 30, 1976. Upon retiring from the US Army at Ft. Jackson, S.C., Staff Sgt. Thomas A. Manry accepted a position at Natchitoches Central High School, where he assisted with opening the JROTC program and established the Natchitoches Central Cavaliers competition drill team.
After retiring from Natchitoches Central, Tom moved south to Luling where he took a position as a tool manager at Monsanto Chemical Plant.
A few years later, when his first wife, Johnnie Hammett Manry, became disabled, he finally completely retired to care for her. After her death, he returned to Natchitoches.
Thomas A. Manry is survived by his wife, Carmen Manry; children, Tina Manry, Jeff Manry and wife Janet, Dale Manry and wife Margaret, Tami Manry Self and husband Dwayne; and daughter-in-law, Adina (widow of Tommy); stepsons, Jason and Shane Quarles; grandchildren, Nissa Fulton, Darla Powell, Waylon Ordoyne, Josiah Abigail, Gabriel, Ezekiel, Caitlyn Manry Chiristensen and husband Chad, Rebecca, Robert Smith and wife Lisa, Jon-Thomas Smith and wife Whitney, David Smith and wife Nicole, Christina, Harlee, and Autumn Manry Dyess and husband Timmy; step-grandchildren, Malory Jordan, Tyler Singletary, Ayden Quarles, Addie Quarles, Ryleigh Quarles and Fancy Quarles; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Johnnie Faye Hammet Manry; son, Tommy John Manry; and stepdaughter, Melinda Quarles.
