On April 19, 2021, Governor John Bel Edwards approved the Town of Campti for the Louisiana community Development Block Grant in the amount of $737,300. Mayor LeRon Winslow applied for the grant back in 2020. Unfortunately, the town didnt receive it the first time around. Fast forward to today Mayor Winslow is grateful to start making improvements to the wastewater collection system.

The wastewater rehab was last done in 1975. This is a game changer for the residents of Campti. Mayor Winslow stated “We are beyond grateful for this grant.” The mayor plans to attend workshops to learn how to proceed further with the grant.
Winslow plans to construct wastewater collection system improvements such as deficiencies, water waste, and correct violations of the Louisiana sanitary code around the first of next year. The funds granted will go towards meeting the mandated requirements in the LPDES discharge permit.
Residents will see major changes and improvements to their sewer system. This is a giant step in improving the town of Campti.
