St. Mary’s names new principal


St. Mary’s Catholic School announces Jason Lachica has been selected as Principal for the 2021-22 school year.   Lachica was born in New Orleans, and raised in Chalmette, where he resided until 2009.  He moved to Central Louisiana in 2012 to begin his teaching career and attend the Louisiana College Teach Program.

After certification, he attained the Master of Arts in Teaching in 2015 and later a Master of Education with a concentration in Ed Leadership in 2019 from Louisiana College.  Lachica was the recipient of the 2018 Bolton High School Faculty Achievement Award and was the overall Hixon Autoplex/KALB Golden Apple Teacher of the Year in 2019.

Lachica has served in many coaching capacities throughout his career.  He was the assistant coach for the Holy Cross 2009 Division 2 State Championship wrestling team, started the Thomas Jefferson and Bolton High School wrestling teams and was the head baseball coach at West Jefferson High School, Bolton High School and most recently East Beauregard High School.  He also served as Athletic Director at Bolton High School from 2015-2018. Lachica is married to Stacy Dupre’-Lachica.

They reside in Colfax where they are parishioners of St. Joseph Catholic Church and where he also serves as Lector, Eucharistic Minister and member of the church pastoral council.  They have three children, Trevor, Kylie-Sue and Hayden.

In July 2018, Hayden was taken from this world in a tragic automobile accident.  They are the proud grandparents of three grandchildren, Tripp Oliver, Fisher Reece and Finlee Jean.  When they aren’t working or spending time with family, they enjoy camping with their two dogs, Wrigley and Fenway.
