Natchitoches Parish School Board Superintendent Grant Eloi started his report by recognizing the Natchitoches Central High School Orchestra members that received all-state musician titles at a WorldStrides Orchestra competition. The five student-musicians, along with NCHS orchestra directors, Syll-Young Olson and Aleisa Hudlow, were congratulated by the school board and public.

“We’re very proud of what they’ve been able to achieve, especially this year,” Hudlow said.

Eloi honored Laura Strahan as the 2021 Champion of Service through the 4-H organization. She raised over $60,000 for the Marthaville extension and has shown support for several years. After giving his report, Eloi commended his fellow members of the board because of their work dedicated to the district consolidation issue. He said the past couple of month there’s been misunderstandings and different feelings on both sides.

“We believe the people of Marthaville, Provincal and Cloutierville are good and passionate people,” Eloi said. “I’ve never been prouder of this board and how they’ve wrestled with their decision.” Eloi said he believe everyone here is just trying to do what’s best for students.
