The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Heat Advisory that will begin at Noon today through 7 pm this evening.
Timing and Overview:
With afternoon temperatures likely reaching the middle to upper 90s combined with high humidity, look for afternoon heat indices to climb to between 105 and 109 degrees. The areas most likely to see these conditions will be Deep East Texas into portions of Northern Louisiana (see graphic below).
Afternoon heat indices could possibly max out near 105 degrees today as well further north, including the Interstate 20 Corridor of Northeast Texas into Northwest Louisiana, but the higher heat indices should be south of the I-20 Corridor today.
Impacts:
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on elderly relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. If you must be outdoors, wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible.
