People say a lot of things about me. But if you’re not being criticized or having them jeer at you, you’re not doing something right.
Edwin Edwards, Louisiana’s longest serving governor, pasted away this week at the ripe old age of 93. He lived a full and controversial life.
I first met Edwin Edwards on the steps of the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. A few months earlier, a mutual friend, Don Jones from Crowley, suggested that I visit with a fairly obscure southwest Louisiana congressman who was considering a race for governor. A few days later, I received a letter from Edwards who suggested we meet personally in the near future.
